How Can severe Thigh Pain Be Treated?

I have been working towards my splits for a couple of months. Recently i did my front splits and i was feeling great. The next day i was feeling a little tight and what i thought was soar, so i continued to stretch that day. Now i have a pain in my but/thigh area that sends shutting pains down my leg when it is stretched out. It has restricted me from getting back to stretching and getting into my splits. It happened a few weeks ago and now i am farther away from the splits than i was before i started stretching.

Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
All the symptoms you have mentioned suggest the possibility of muscle sore, which is quite common after heavy workout.
No need to worry regarding this because it will subside within 72 about hours with simple supportive therapy.

You can do the following as a first line things:-
1.You can take simple analgesics like like "diclofenac" or "ibuprofen" for pain.
2.Immerse the affected area in cold water, you can also apply ice packs over that area.
3.Do not stop all of a sudden,it will worsen the symptoms.continued exercise may temporarily suppress the soreness.
4.Massage your sore spots thoroughly.
If the symptoms persist despite all these even after three days, you have to consult a general practitioner and get evaluated to rule out other conditions.

You can try the following to prevent sore muscles:-
.
1.Hydrate yourself,Drink plenty of water before and through out your work out.
2. Warmup before weight training.
3.Have healthy diet and adequate sleep.
4.Do the gym training only under the instructions of a qualified trainer

Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
Dr.Shinas
